Don't come in here...

I get a bit nervous when Carson tells me not to come and see something.....it always means trouble! Two times in the past week while he has been using the bathroom this has happened. I yelled to him and asked if he was done.....and his response is, "don't come in here mom!" When I went into the bathroom there was a mound of toilet paper on the floor and he has the cardboard roll in his hand and is using it as a binocular! Luckily the roll of toilet paper was almost gone. He didn't understand why I was a little upset.....he just said, "but mom I needed my noculars!"

***Baby update: The doctor stripped my membranes last Thursday at my appointment and I guess she isn't ready to come yet as nothing has happened. I sent Zac off to the mountains with his Dad for one last antler hunt so hopefully she doesn't decide to come fast today! I have everything all ready and I got the curtains made for the kids room.....now I am trying to get the other panel made for the living room so I don't have two different kinds of curtains hanging up.

Grandpa Smith

We went to Rexburg last Wednesday to attend Zac's Grandpa's funeral. Zac was asked to be a pallbearer and it was a very nice service. Carson was a little bit wild and got restless but did pretty well. We are grateful for his example and dedication to the gospel.


Leo M. Smith, 89, of Rexburg, died Sunday, April 11, 2010, at Homestead Assisted Living of natural causes.

He was born March 27, 1921, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Isaac Earl and Emma Arnold Smith. He attended Cedar Point Grade School and graduated from Madison High School. He lived in the Lyman area all of his life.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He married Nadine Wellard in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. She died Nov. 6, 1989. He married Edna Waterfall in Idaho Falls in 1992.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission in 1941 to the Northwestern States Mission and a second mission in 1992 to Peoria, Ill. He held many callings in the church including Bishop, member of Stake Presidency and Patriarch. He loved to serve in the temple.

He was a farmer all of his life. He served for 10 years as a commissioner on the Madison County Commission.

He loved farming and spending time with his grandchildren. He would talk to anyone he met about the Gospel.

He is survived by his wife, Edna; children, Vicky Smith and Pam Kendrick both of Salt Lake City, Cathy (Lorin) Harris and Jeffrey (Rosemary) Smith all of Rexburg, Lisa (Flint) Jacobson of Buhl, Kevin (Krystle) Smith of Boise and Todd (Elaina) Smith of Rexburg; sisters, Aldean Smith of Rexburg and Thala Ann Martin of Palo Alto, Calif.; 38 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine; a sister; three brothers; a granddaughter; and a son-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, at the Lyman LDS Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg, and from noon to 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at the church prior to services. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Madison County Veterans. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.flammfh.com.

Easter Take 2

We were able to celebrate Easter with Zac's family the week after and had a great time. We had a delicious dinner and then Grandma and Grandpa went outside and hid a lot of eggs for everyone to find. Grandma made her eggs a little easier to find than Grandpa did :) We were missing Matthew, Niki, and Logan because Matthew had to sleep so he could work that night and poor Logan was sick. Carson wanted to bring his jeep to show Jace and they had a fun time playing. Carson loved the egg hunt but wanted to look in each egg before he found another one. He was so excited about the money he found, especially the quarters. He has an obsession with quarter machines so he was happy! I let him pick out a toy at the store with the other Easter money he found and he chose a Buzz Lightyear and a bug flashlight.

Grandma told Jace and Carson the Easter story after we were done with the egg hunt and surprisingly they both sat there and listened. Carson loved it and later that day he was telling us the story.

Baby is Here!!

........Just not our baby! Ryan and Kaci welcomed Mackie Jo on Saturday April 10th. She was 7 lbs 6 oz and I think 20 inches long. She is such a beautiful baby and we are so happy for Ryan and Kaci. Around noon on Saturday we went over to their house to say hi and visit for a little while. Ryan called about 5:00 and said that they were at the hospital and she was at an 8 already. Mackie was here just after 8---I couldn't believe she came so fast! Kaci is so awesome and Ryan said she did great. Makes me feel like a wimp--When I went to the hospital with Carson and I wasn't even dilated to a 2. Carson is so in love and keeps talking about her. It was sort of a joke when Kaci was pregnant that the baby was named Wanda (I am really gullible and believed Ryan when he said that is what Kaci wanted to name the baby) So we have been calling her Wanda for several months. Carson is a bit confused and called her WaMackie at the hospital! It is so awesome to see my brother as a dad--I can tell she is going to have him wrapped around her little finger. Congrats Ryan and Kaci! We love you!

Easter Weekend

We had a fun weekend spending time with family and watching General Conference. On Friday night we went over to Grandma and Grandpa Jacobson's house so that Carson could have Dylan dye Easter eggs with him. He loves spending time with his uncle Dylan although I am sure that Dylan gets worn out!


I had Zac take a belly shot for me on Saturday because I hardly have any pictures of me pregnant. This is just over 35 weeks--getting so close!
We ran into Twin Falls on Saturday afternoon and I stopped into Old Navy to see if they had any cute maternity shirts. With Carson I didn't really wear maternity clothes, just some in bigger sizes. Well I was quickly running out of things that fit so I picked up a couple shirts. They were painting faces for Easter so Carson got to have some bunny whiskers!
On Sunday after the morning session of Conference, Carson got to follow a trail of eggs to find his Power Wheels Jeep. I bought the Jeep last year at a yard sale so he has already seen it but the battery didn't work. So we bought a battery for Easter and he had so much fun cruising around!


We went over to my parents to watch the second session of Conference and eat dinner. It was fun to spend time with Grandpa and Grandma--Thanks for the Easter treats!

Baby update

Every time I see the countdown on our blog, I can't believe how fast our baby will be here. I feel ready but there is still so much I want to get done before she comes. I really want to have a freezer cooking day....anyone want to join me? Moneysavingmom is a blog that I like to check and each month she does a freezer cooking day. I think this would be awesome, especially for after the baby is here.

Anyways, I had my 35 week appointment yesterday (THANK YOU Dad for watching Carson!) and the first thing the doctor says when he comes in is, "You pushed for 4 hours last time and don't want to do another c-section?" I told him yes and then we talked about and I still feel good with my decision. The doctor felt that she isn't that big of a baby but wants us to do one more ultrasound next week to check on her size. He said that he wouldn't want me to push that long this time so I could still have a c-section but I am hoping for the best.

I just had to post a picture of these shoes that I got, they are so cute! I love the soft soled shoes for babies and they are great for their feet. I am so excited to dress a little girl!

Sewing/Craft Projects

My mom gave me a sewing machine two years ago and I have had fun working on some projects. There are so many craft blogs out there (comment with your favorite so I can find more!) and they have really given me some great ideas to make our home look better. We still have pretty much blank walls and no window coverings so I am trying to make improvements a little at a time so as not to kill the budget. I took the green curtains from the living room and shortened them for our bedroom windows. We have a green couch set and there was just too much green. They match the new bed set perfectly but the only downside is that the room stays so dark now in the mornings I don't want to get out of bed!

The dark fabric is a rich brown corduroy. I really like these curtains from http://makeitandloveit.blogspot and mine will look similar but the flower fabric is going to be about the top third of the curtain panel.

I have some extra flower fabric that I will use to recover some throw pillows. I also want to make some sort of wall hangings and I really like these one (again from make it and love it)

The kids' room is going to be jungle theme--mostly so I didn't have to buy a new crib set for the baby. I have fabric to make valances and my mom has letters for Carson's name. I found some fun vinyl circles of all sizes from an etsy seller so I will get those to go around the room.

It is called the Itty Bitty Baby dress and I was pretty impressed with my self! For a more experienced seamstress it would be a piece of cake. The dress ties at the shoulders so there aren't any buttons or zippers to mess with. I bought some really cute fabric to try and make another one. I want to make matching ones for our baby and Kaci and Ryan's baby so hopefully I will have that done soon.

Library Story Time

On Wednesday's the library does a story hour and we have gone a few times now. The lady that does it is really fun. She has a theme for the week and then reads 3 or 4 stories and has an action song for each one or a poem that she tells. Carson doesn't sit very well for the story time but he loves the craft activity afterward. He used scissors for the first time and loved it so I bought a child pair. I gave him a sheet to cut and wasn't very smart because I didn't watch him and he was cutting the paper in his lap and cut a hole in his new pants...oh well! This week's story time was about frogs and the kids got to make a paper bag puppet. Carson thought that was great and kept using it to tell Zac and I stories.

Grandpa Smith

We went to Rexburg so that we could be there for Zac's Grandpa's 89th birthday party...it was just an extra bonus that we got to stay with Terry and Sarah. Grandpa lives in a care facility and the past few months has has not been doing well. All of Zac's aunts and uncles were there and most of the cousins, some I hadn't even met before. We had a big lunch and then took turns going to see Grandpa in his room. Lisa has gone to Rexburg three times in the last week and will go again this weekend to be with her Dad.

Carson and Jace (I think this is one of the few times they sat still) My camera was about to die so I didn't get any more pictures of the day but it was nice to be with family and be there for Lisa.

This was taken at Grandpa's birthday last March and it was hard to see how different he looks now. He is quite skinny and just looked so frail in his bed. Zac told me that he is prepared for him to go but it was difficult to see him now. Makes me grateful for eternal families.

Rexburg

Last Friday we drove to Rexburg and stayed with Sarah and Terry. Carson fell asleep about 10 minutes after we left and woke up around 6---we could tell this was going to be a long night! When we got to their apartment it smelled delicious! Sarah made us this dinner and it was so yummy. Zac and Terry watched some basketball while Sarah and I visited and Carson bounced off the walls. We watched Plantet 51 and it was cute but I was falling asleep and Carson was wide awake. Sarah insisted that we sleep in their bed so they slept on an air mattress and I tried to get Carson to sleep on the couch without much luck. It was around midnight when we finally got him asleep in the bed with us--little stinker! We slept in till 10 am and I think that was Zac's favorite part. They made us a yummy breakfast and then took us to the campus to look around. The last time we were there Carson got to go feed ducks with Sarah so he wanted to do that again. Rexburg has a really nice nature park and Carson enjoyed chasing the ducks trying to get them to take his bread. Thanks for being such great hosts for us, we had a great time!
