2 weeks old

Macey has three aunts that she hasn't met yet..Sarah, Jill, and Tianna. We are going to see Sarah and Terry next Monday, Jill will be home from school in about three weeks, and Tianna won't be back in town until October :( So I am going to try and update the blog a lot for our out-of-town Aunts (and Uncle Terry!)

Two weeks have gone by so fast! At her appt. last Friday Macey was already past her birth weight at 7 lbs 14 oz. She screamed the whole time the nurse was squeezing her heel for the PKU blood test. She is a great nurser and sleeps most of the day. She likes to be up anywhere from 10pm to 1 am so I am trying to adjust to that. She makes little squeaking noises and we just love her so much!

Carson wanted Macey to read stories with him at bedtime

Check out the red mark on his eyebrow and the red spot in his mouth....two owies in one day from being a wild little boy!

Mornings

I LOVE these two! Every morning Carson wants to hold Macey and he does such a great job. He will sit for quite awhile (at least until she cries) and just talk to her...or poke her in the face. He told my mom, "she is like a little toy that squeaks." I feel lucky to be their mom!

Carson

Carson had such a fun time with both of his Grandma's during the week that Macey was born. He got to go to Dylan's track meet with Grandma and Grandpa Jacobson and to eat at Arctic Circle. Grandma Haney brought a big bag full of fun things to our house and Carson loved it. There were pipe cleaners, googly eyes, and pom poms in the bag. Grandma made Carson these crazy glasses and then they made some bugs. He kept asking to choose another present from the bag!

All Washed Up

Carson helped Grandma and I give Macey a washcloth bath. Her skin looks so dark in these pictures and has definitely lightened up since then.

Hospital part 2

My mom had Carson overnight and brought him to the hospital on Tuesday morning. It was pouring rain when they came so they were a little wet. My mom had her hands full with Carson and some beautiful flowers they brought to us. When they got to the room she realized she didn't have her car keys so she had to go back and look for them. They were in the parking lot in the rain. Carson wanted to crawl into the bed with us and was so interested in his little sister.
Macey had a couple of presents for her big brother and Carson thought that was so fun. He got Woody from Toy Story and another train toy to add to his set.

It was nice to shower and get out of the hospital gown--although I wish I would have had a blow dryer for my crazy hair!
Zac trying unsuccessfully to give Macey a binky....Carson would never take one but we are still trying with Macey.

All ready for home

At the Hospital

When we got to the hospital all of the delivery rooms were full so we had to go to this tiny room. We were only in there for about 30 minutes and then a room opened up....I was so glad because this first room was like a closet!
Once into delivery suite, two ladies from the lab came to draw my blood. One of the ladies was in training and she asked for my arm during the middle of a contraction and I tried to nicely tell her not now. The other girl with her says, "oh don't ask them in the middle of a contraction!" I was having horrible back labor and each contraction was killing my back. Zac would have to press really hard on my back to help it not feel so intense. The whole time I was contemplating asking for medicine and didn't think that I could do it. Zac and the nurse were so awesome encouraging me and telling me that I could do it. I labored for about an hour and then was able to start pushing. I am pretty sure that this was the hardest thing I have ever done. I pushed for about an hour and a half and was so tired. They were only going to give me two hours so it was such a relief when she was born. I couldn't believe I had done it! She was so perfect and this next picture is right after she was born the doctor set her up on my chest. I held her for a few minutes and then the nurse took her to get cleaned up. The after pains hurt almost as much as the contractions. My mom brought Carson in pretty soon after she was born and he was loving his new sister. Zac's mom and my dad came in next and then Ryan and Kaci came after that. We had to stay in that room for two hours and then we got to our room at about midnight. My dad has some pics of our family that I need to get from him so I will have to add them later.

She weighed in at 7lbs 9 ozs and was 21 inches long. Carson was 8lbs 8 ozs and 22 inches long. They look so much a like but I think that Macey might have blue eyes and Carson's are brown.

Our new baby

Macey Kristine Jacobson

7lbs 9 ozs
21 inches long

We are all doing great and enjoying the new addition. On Monday morning I started having contractions at 7 and they continued throughout the day sometimes regular and sometimes not. Around 4 they started to be 5 minutes apart so we headed to my parents house to drop off Carson. My water broke at their house to we quickly went to the hospital! We checked in around 5:30 and I was already dilated to an 8. I was able to have the VBAC I wanted and had a drug free delivery. She was so alert and just beautiful!
Right after she was born
waiting to go to our room
ready to go home.....notice the red bow--We checked a book out at the library last week about a little boy that is getting a new sister. He tells his mom that he wants one with a red ribbon in her hair. The first thing that Carson asked when he saw her was, "mom where is her ribbon?" So the next morning when my mom brought Carson to the hospital they brought a ribbon.

At the Park

There is a great park in Castleford that Carson loves to play at. I wanted to get some walking in to see if that would help start labor so off to the park we went. I walked around the play area 20 times while Carson played on the toys. It was a little windy and cold but we had fun!

It is kind of a let down when your due date comes and goes. I found out that a friend due a week after me had her baby early this morning! At my appointment today the doctor said everything looked good and he felt like she would come by Saturday or Sunday. If she doesn't then I am supposed to check in at L & D on Tuesday morning where they will break my water and get things started. I noticed that I could feel her kicking on my left side instead of the right the past few days. The doctor said it was because she is now face up instead of down but most babies will turn back during labor. Now we just wait!

A Vegetable Game?

Carson loves playing games but we don't have that many kids' games. This morning he said he wanted to play the vegetable game with the spinner. I didn't really know what he was talking about so I told him his vegetables were in his room and we could play with them. That wasn't what he wanted to I told him to show me. We went to the game cupboard and he says, "see right there mom---it is a vegetable game!" I pulled a vegetable tray out of the closet and tried to show him that it was for real food but he was convinced it was a game and the center dish was a spinner. He got his vegetables from his room and played his own little game. He has such a good imagination. We are going to find a few kids games for his birthday next month.....eeek how can he already be almost three!

Cousin Time

Carson has missed playing with Logan so we had him over on Monday. Niki got to go drive the loader while Dylan and some of his friends picked rock in the fields. It was nice to have someone to keep Carson busy! They must have been hungry because I found them under the kitchen table eating crackers.
